  • “My 17 year old daughter had a boxers fracture on her right hand.  I searched for 2 days to find a doctor that would take our insurance. I could have taken her to the emergency room, which would have cost over $3000, just to be looked at WITH insurance. Then we would have been told to go to an orthopaedic doctor to reset the hand and cast it.After being on the internet for 2 days searching for a doctor, I found Professional Orthopaedic Associates at 5:55 in the evening and left a distressing message on the machine. I told them that I needed care for my daughter with this certain insurance, that NO one was taking, or no one was available to see her for 3 weeks! At 6:00, I received a very calming voice on the other end of the phone that they would be able to help us. They had an agreement to take what ever the insurance would give them. The relief was indescribable. We went the next morning at 7:30 am. The office was friendly and very professional. Dr. Johnson was great. He was very professional and very relaxed with my daughter. We laughed about her boxer fracture that is usually a male injury, from hitting a wall. Temper temper. My daughter’s care was outstanding and very professional. I would go back if I needed to any time.I was nervous that the bill was still going to be high, with one child in college and the next one ready to go to college, our money is being handled very carefully. When I received the final statement from the insurance company of what we owed, which was zero. We paid our co-pays and they stood by what they said and took what ever the insurance company paid.  All I could do was thank God first, and thank Professional Orthopaedic Associates for their generosity and their integrity.  I haven't been able to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, until now. Our experience was a great blessing and a life lesson for my daughter. Never punch a wall when you’re mad.”

  • “Dear Dr. Torpey, I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for taking the time to help me with my chronic condition. I visited five different doctors in the past couple of years to no avail. My pain has been progressively increasing and I was becoming depressed, not very enthusiastic regarding my future. On your recommendation, I visited Dr. Kelly and he confirmed your diagnosis of a torn tendon along with a bone spur on my hip bone. I have a long road ahead of healing, however, I now am very hopeful for my future. I am so grateful I made the decision to come and see you!”

  • “I came to Professional Orthopaedic Associates office due to a serious knee issue. After my visits with Dr. Chris Johnson, I was referred to Dr. Mark Gesell for further treatment.  I was unable to walk without a cane and eventually crutches. Dr. Gesell was extremely communicative and understanding with me. We tried the Suparts knee shots first, which I wanted, and after that needed to proceed to knee surgery. I had a partial knee replacement in March 2014 and was standing and walking that same day!  I was in no pain and left the hospital the next afternoon. My experience at the hospital and with Dr. Gesell was 100% positive. Today, in October, I am a new person. I can now exercise, garden all day long, walk without any cane, help or pain, this after over a year on crutches. I will always be grateful to Dr. Gesell for helping me to return to a normal happy life.”

By Labor day, I jogged a half mile. In September I was able to jog to a run at least two miles and I was swimming every other day. I started back skiing in December and I was able to be aggressive right from the get-go, powder skiing most of the winter, then onto being aggressive in the bumps, but slow! The biggest believer out there is me!! Thanks again.”

He has made me a new person. Everyone is amazed at how I am pain free and back in the gym. Every time I pick up my son now he always says, "Mommy, I am so glad you can pick me up again," and I get a big hug. Priceless. Dr. Cohen is the most amazing man. I refer everyone to him.”

  • “I actually damaged my shoulder several years ago, but aggravated the injury in November 2014. Dr. Bade looked at my shoulder, ordered X-rays, and an MRI, after which he sat with both my wife and me (spending an hour with us discussing options). He advised that I must perform physical therapy before he would even consider surgery (he did not jump at the chance to do surgery). I went through the PT, and unmistakably, my shoulder felt so much better. I felt so good, that I did not intend to request surgery, but unfortunately I injured the shoulder again while lifting my 95 year old mother after she had fallen. I will need to see Dr. Bade once again . . . and look for his expert advise before jumping to any 'surgery' conclusions.”
