David R. Gentile, MD, FACS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in surgical treatments for shoulder, elbow, hand, knee, and wrist injuries and conditions as well as arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Gentile joined Professional Orthopaedic Associates in 1998.
After completing his bachelor’s degree at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, Dr. Gentile earned his medical degree at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey. He then pursued an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. Following his residency, Dr. Gentile underwent additional training with a hand, microvascular, and upper extremity fellowship at The University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
With years of extensive training and hands-on experience in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Gentile is an expert in elbow, knee, shoulder, hand, and wrist procedures. His expertise includes elbow and wrist fracture care, shoulder stabilization, carpal tunnel surgery, biologic therapy, ACL reconstruction, elbow contracture release, tendon surgery of the hand and wrist, rotator cuff repair, and Dupuytren’s contracture injections. He is also an expert in Achilles tendon and biceps repair as well as minimally invasive procedures for the shoulder, wrist, elbow, and knee.
Dr. Gentile is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was also recognized as a New Jersey Monthly Top Doctor for seven consecutive years.
When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Gentile enjoys boating, mountain biking, and lacrosse.
Dr. Gentile is available to see patients at our Tinton Falls, Toms River, and Freehold offices.

As a courtesy to our patients, our highly trained specialists will verify insurance benefits before treatment. On your first visit, if requested, our staff will review those benefits with you so that any financial obligations will be known. Currently, we participate with Medicare. We accept most other insurances on an out-of-network basis. We also accept cash, personal check, and credit card.
