“Dr. Torpey is an outstanding surgeon. I have RA and was very slow to heal my arthroscopic  knee surgery of a meniscal  repair. “This has been my third procedure with Dr. Torpey. He has done work on both of my knees with great success. This summer after experiencing an accident in the gym I needed more urgent attention to my injured shoulder. I initially attempted to contact a surgeon that I had previously used for another shoulder injury. His office was not very helpful under the circumstances. I then contacted your office. I spoke with Dr. Torpey's staff explained my situation. They got me in to see him that Wednesday. “About 3 and a half years ago my hip began hurting me. I first went to see Dr. Bade who quickly recommended that I see the hip surgeon Dr. Torpey. Unfortunately, it turned out that I had a torn labrum. In order for the pain to go away and the situation not to get any worse he recommended that I get surgery. Needless to say, it was a complete success. It's been over a year now and I feel stronger than ever. I lift heavy weights, go rock climbing, run and do what ever I like without hesitation. The whole process with Dr. Torpey was easy, clear and I felt like I was in good hands. Thank you so much!”

“I was on the fence about getting the operation for a year. Posterior meniscus tear. I was getting therapy and had minimal success. Dr. Torpey was highly recommended by my brother Inlaw who is a personal trainer. The operation was performed in November 2015 and I just got back from snowboarding in Colorado with zero pain. “Dr. Torpey and the team at Professional Orthopaedic Associates saved my life.  I had a rare dislocation - my right sternoclavicular joint was dislocating, and pressing into my throat and affecting the nerves going into my chest.  Before the surgery, I had lost 1.5 liters of my lung volume and had elevated CO2.  I had to go on a home ventilator to lower the CO2 and help me breathe.  The dislocation was so rare that no one knew who could help - then I was referred to Professional Orthopaedic Associates and Dr. Torpey. Dr. Torpey used a donor tendon to secure my collarbone to my sternum.  Within 3 days my chest wall started to move right, and within 2 weeks the CO2 levels stayed down.  Within 4 weeks, I no longer needed the ventilator.  By August I was back to riding my bike.  I am now able to work full time instead of part time. Thanks to Dr. Torpey, I have a second chance, and a healthier life.”

“Dr. Torpey, I would like to take this time to thank you for the care and treatment you provided for my daughter, Carly. I appreciate the quick and accurate diagnosis, especially since Carly had been "shopping" around for ten months hoping someone would correctly diagnosis her problem. It was extremely frustrating for her to continually explain her symptoms and have spent over four months in PT without any improvement. Also, thank you for moving up her second surgery. There is never a good time for surgery, but as a parent, knowing her medical insurance expired the end of August made things a little uneasy. (After her first surgery, and before knowing you were able to move up her second procedure, I extended her insurance until the end of October). “My daughter Angela is a high school soccer player. She injured both ACLs (plus her meniscus and MCL) in a nine-month span. We, as a family, were so distraught after her first injury. Angela was assured by Dr. Torpey that she would be back on the playing field, but I don't think she really believed it would happen. Sure enough she had a remarkable recovery and was back practicing within five months! But after her second injury, she didn't even want to think about playing soccer again. Dr. Torpey made her feel confident from her visit with him that everything would be okay. He just has a calming, yet "upbeat" way about him. As parents we were so scared at the thought of Angela needing surgery and complications that could accompany it. Dr. Torpey gained our trust and confidence in no time. We were not intimidated discussing our smallest concerns. We never at any moment felt like we were being rushed out of the office because he had other patients to attend to. We often feel like that with other practices. The few times we had to call during off hours, we immediately received a return phone call. We also received phone calls from Dr. Torpey himself just to see how she was doing. We felt like we knew him for a very long time. Anytime someone gets hurt, "Go see Dr. Torpey" are the first words out of Angelas mouth, followed by "He is amazing."”

“My mom had hip surgery in 1995 with Dr. Torpey. He was wonderful and she loved him. I had elbow and shoulder surgery in 1998 and 1999. Between the extensive rehabilitation and challenges of getting back to work, Dr. Torpey was a constellation of excellence and compassion. “Dr. Torpey spent at least 45 minutes with me, explaining, in most explicit detail, the tear in the supraspinatus, the rotator cuff muscle that is torn. He clearly, with a most intricate drawing, explained the problem and the procedure to repair the tear. Besides his expert knowledge, he most professionally dealt with many of my questions, particularly those that referred to holistic professionals, who had also read my MRI and prescribed a program of action. I felt overwhelmed with the need for surgery, but Dr. Torpey eased any of my concerns. I experienced no pressure to have surgery. Although, Dr. Torpey explained clearly why he believes it is necessary. I was most impressed with the entire experience.”

“I had been having problems with my knees, which in turn held me back from enjoying the retirement years that I was so much looking forward to. I decided to see Dr. Torpey at Professional Orthopaedic Associates to find out if there was anything that he could do to reverse the condition and associated pain. The examination was done along with x-rays and the results were that my knees were in bad condition, my right knee worse than the left. After exploring the options to remedy the situation, I choose to have my right knee treated with the Synvisc treatment. Before I had even completed the three-week treatment period, my knee felt great with no more pain and excellent mobility. To my benefit, the treatment lasted longer than projected, but then my knee started to fail again. I went back to Dr. Torpey, an examination was done again, and the result was that the only option was a knee replacement. I agreed and the wheels were set in motion for the operation. Dr. Torpey performed the successful operation in 2009. After a period of physical therapy, I have been pain free and active ever since. If ever I have to have my left knee operated on, you can be sure that Professional Orthopaedic Associates and Dr. Torpey will be involved. Thank you Dr. Torpey.”
