Patient Reviews: Dr. Christopher Johnson

Christopher D. Johnson, MD, FACS

The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Johnson.
  • “I would like to thank you for your efforts in making our patient's experience the best possible.  Specifically, a patient mentioned you on the patient survey, the comments included "Grateful to Dr. Chris Johnson's care and expertise." We take great pride in our medical and dental staff and you are an example of the reason why.”

  • “Dr. Johnson, I wish to thank you for the great job that you did for me on two occasions. The first was a couple of years ago after a sever ligament tear to my left thumb. Since then it has healed tremendously and it is now a non-issue in daily performance on the job, when I'm working out or in the future as I perform my summer duties life guarding. The second was the most recent operation you performed on my knee to take care of a torn piece of cartilage. Though I still think about it in order to protect it, I shocked myself when to perform a task that involved the use of brute force i used that very leg and didn't realize I had until afterward. I of course rebuked myself for doing so, but it put a smile on my face realizing that the knee was solid. I also wish to give a sincere thank you for the greatest confidence you instilled on my daughter when she saw you. She was amazed when you got on the phone and got her an appointment within a week with a doctor that she was not able to get an appointment for over a month. She also said that she felt tremendously comfortable with your overall demeanor and courtesy towards her in a personal way and not just a clinical manner. We've known one another since high school and I am proud to tell people that fact. Not just because you are an excellent doctor and surgeon, for which I recommend you, but because you are a fine individual that really does care about his patients.”

    – Mark S.

  • “Dr. Johnson, I wanted to thank you for all of the help you have provided me with my wrist operation. I made it through the entire basketball season without any problems and had the opportunity to play in the Group 2 state championship game. None of it would have been possible without your help. Thank you.”

    – Timmy M.

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, I am writing this thank you card with a pain-free hand, thanks to your care and expertise in treating my carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger. I am so happy that I had the surgery and I am truly grateful for having met you and I am so appreciative of your personal and professional attention.”

    – Marie B.

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, I want to thank you for being so generous in performing my ACL surgery. I know that you are a very busy doctor and what you did for me was unbelievable. I am very confident that I am going to be able to return to baseball this spring. I am recovering well and doing my PT three times a week and I feel very optimistic about my college baseball career, thanks to you.”

    – Jordan B.

  • “Dr. Johnson: On behalf of all parties involved, I would like to thank Dr. Johnson and the rest of his staff for helping Jordan Bell, a senior baseball player at Ocean HS, make it back to a sport he loves. Jordan is 4.5 months post op from ACL surgery. After passing functional tests and baseball drills he was cleared to play. His first games back to he went 3-for-4 with 3 doubles and a stand-up steal home on a passed ball. In his second game he went 1-for-3 with a double. To say that everyone is nothing but amazed would be an understatement.”

    – John D.

  • “Dr. Johnson, I again just needed say thank you for your incredible generosity towards Jordan. Your sincere unselfishness that you and your colleges extended towards my family will forever be remembered. I want you to know that it has impacted Jordan & me in that the "pay it forward" philosophy will continue with us. Jordan continues to do community service volunteering whether at the Food pantry, volunteering for his school and Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. He now has a very personal point of reference on how it feels to be the recipient of such acts of kindness. Also he hand wrote thank you letters to everyone involved. I am currently in volunteer training for Red Cross Shelter help and completed Hospice training. I especially look forward to participating in these organizations when all my kids head off to college in August. '" ,.. . Your good will never be forgotten.”

  • “Dr. Johnson, I just wanted to take a minute to praise your staff! From making my 1st appointment, requesting medical records and asking for billing help, I received top notch customer / patient service. I got what I needed and I got extra help with my billing issue. Not only a call back from Carol, but followup from others on staff on my behalf. Your staff goes above and beyond what you need. They are pleasant, helpful and they deliver on their promises. I just thought you should know, because these days this is EXTREMELY RARE Thanks for a great experience. You guys are top notch!!”

  • “Just a brief note to express my gratitude to you and Carla. The professional manner in which I have been treated has been most impressive and greatly appreciated.”

    – Mike S.

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, My son has been under Dr. Torpey's care for over five years now for a shoulder injury and we have always been extremely happy when dealing with him and his staff. It is so comforting that he recommended you to treat his hand injury because we see that we are getting the same exceptional care and treatment.”

    – Valerie Z.

  • “Dr. Johnson, When I first walked into your office, my shoulder hurt so bad, I was limping! Okay, that's a tad over dramatic, but you get my point. But it was all good from that point on. From the concern and efficiency of your front desk staff to the support and patience of Calla Chizan, I felt well taken care of by the administrative staff. And Carod Dolan seemed to make my treatment her #1 priority whenever I called. The medical team in Tinton Falls that I dealt with were outstanding. From nurses to x-ray techs the care and concern demonstrated were highly appreciated. I am sorry I can't remember their names. A special mention for "Sarah" (I hope I got that right. I wasn't exactly sharp that day.), the pre-op nurse at the surgical center. She was professional, efficient and re-assuring to a pretty frightened, uptight individual that day. And last, but NOT least, thank you for being so good at what you do. I am well on my way back to 100%. I can not thank you, and your team enough.”

    – M. McInerney

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, I cant thank you enough- seriously. You went above and beyond to help me (with my carpal tunnel syndrome and chronic tennis elbow) and Ill never forget it. Thanks to you I am sleeping again without agonizing pain. You truly are a wonderful person.”

    – Michelle L.

  • “Dr. Johnson, I am just so thankful that you fixed my knee. If it weren't for you, I don't think I'd be playing soccer for the Red Bulls right now. After my therapy, I started and lead my high school team to the states. I had the most assists in the league and was named to the honorable mention all county team. You and (PT) Sheila saved my soccer career. We just got finished playing with the U-17 US National team. I also went to Florida to play in a national showcase. If it weren't for you I wouldn't be experiencing all of these unforgettable moments. I'm really grateful for what you have done. Thanks again for everything!”

    – Chris G.

  • “Dr. Johnson, I have to express my thanks for your work on my surgically repaired ankle. I have just returned from a two week trip to Japan (8 months after surgery for my broken leg) where I was able to keep up with people ten years younger than myself, walking all day, running for trains, over all terrain, huge flights of stairs, etc. You did a wonderful job and I certainly appreciate it.”

    – Doris S.

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, At this splendid time of year, it is our joy to express gratitude and respect for your medical practice. Gentle, comprehensive care is so characteristic of the healing arts. Thank you.”

  • “I am an Equine Dentist and am 59 years old. In 2007, I fractured my collarbone in a horse related accident. Because of the nature of my occupation, it’s imperative that I have full range of motion of all my extremities. The recovery required a surgery performed by Dr. Johnson. He inserted a plate and 5 screws to repair my collarbone. In about 7 months, he removed the plate. Thanks to Dr. Johnson and therapist Shelia, I made a full recovery. Then about a year ago, I developed a problem in my knee. The pain was excruciating and I could barely walk, let alone work. Again, my job is extremely physical and requires the use of your entire body, from fingers to toes. Again, I visited Dr. Johnson and he repaired my knee surgically. I was back doing moderate work on horses in 10 days. Shelia was supervising my rehab and helping me get back my range of motion. Of course, it took time to recover. My knee got stronger and my range of motion came back as the weeks went by. Now, a year later, my knee is perfect. I have no pain and have complete range of motion. I am on my feet all day long, doing strenuous work, working most days, and my knee never bothers me at all. As a matter of fact, I would say it’s the best part of me. As far as I am concerned, these people are the best in the business. I recommend them all the time to people with orthopaedic issues and would call on them again if I ever have another problem. They are truly healers and take a genuine concern about their patients well being. If it was not for them, I would not have been able to continue my career as an Equine Dentist. Thank you again, Dr. Johnson and Shelia.”

  • “Very pleased with the help I received from Dr. Johnson. I came to him in 2000, with a knee problem that had me at times on crutches. Dr. Johnson diagnosed my knee problem as osteoarthritis. The first medical group I saw diagnosed a different condition and wanted to do surgery. That is when I went to Dr. Johnson. He treated my knee with an injection and physical therapy. I have lived with my knee condition and am able to do almost most anything. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone that asked me for a doctor.”

    – John B.

  • “I have been a patient of Professional Orthopaedic Associates for many years. Dr. Johnson has cared for every member of my family at some point, and I would never consider another practice for orthopaedic needs. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Tinton Falls office has an imaging center and physical therapy services on site, making it a very convenient, full-service location.”

    – John G.

  • “Dr. Johnson operated on both of my elbows in January and February of this year for cubital tunnel syndrome. It is truly amazing how well I have recovered. I missed almost no work, and have returned to full sports and recreational activities, including baseball and guitar.”

    – Greg F.

  • “In 2010, during my junior year of football at Moravian College, I suffered a broken fibula and dislocated ankle in the second game of the season. I met with Dr. Johnson the following Monday, and by the end of that week, I was in and out of surgery. After a years worth of healing and rehabilitation, I made a come back for my senior season, without missing a snap the entire year. I'd like to thank Professional Orthopaedic Associates, and especially Dr. Johnson, for helping me get back on the field one more time, and making such a miserable situation go smoothly.”

    – Stephen K.

  • “It was a pleasure to be a patient of Dr. Johnson.  I was a patient at the Toms River office. The staff at that office was wonderful to me. I had problems with arthritis in my left knee. After taking x-rays, Dr. Johnson gave me a shot of cortisone and prescribed physical therapy. Both the shot and the physical therapy did work really well for me at the time. Dr. Johnson is a wonderful, caring doctor. Thank you.”

    – Judith H.

  • “I had an open dislocation to my left ring finger (MIP joint), suffered during a rugby game. I was reaching for a loose ball when a player from the opposing team came in with her foot. This was the second injury to the same finger treated by Dr. Johnson. Previously, I had a fracture that required two pins to properly set the bone. Both injuries had amazing outcomes, and I couldn't be happier with the care I received from Dr. Johnson and the entire practice!”

  • “My 17 year old daughter had a boxers fracture on her right hand.  I searched for 2 days to find a doctor that would take our insurance. I could have taken her to the emergency room, which would have cost over $3000, just to be looked at WITH insurance. Then we would have been told to go to an orthopaedic doctor to reset the hand and cast it.After being on the internet for 2 days searching for a doctor, I found Professional Orthopaedic Associates at 5:55 in the evening and left a distressing message on the machine. I told them that I needed care for my daughter with this certain insurance, that NO one was taking, or no one was available to see her for 3 weeks! At 6:00, I received a very calming voice on the other end of the phone that they would be able to help us. They had an agreement to take what ever the insurance would give them. The relief was indescribable. We went the next morning at 7:30 am. The office was friendly and very professional. Dr. Johnson was great. He was very professional and very relaxed with my daughter. We laughed about her boxer fracture that is usually a male injury, from hitting a wall. Temper temper. My daughter’s care was outstanding and very professional. I would go back if I needed to any time.I was nervous that the bill was still going to be high, with one child in college and the next one ready to go to college, our money is being handled very carefully. When I received the final statement from the insurance company of what we owed, which was zero. We paid our co-pays and they stood by what they said and took what ever the insurance company paid.  All I could do was thank God first, and thank Professional Orthopaedic Associates for their generosity and their integrity.  I haven't been able to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, until now. Our experience was a great blessing and a life lesson for my daughter. Never punch a wall when you’re mad.”

  • “I first saw Dr. Johnson back in my freshman year of high school (2004), after having knee pain during field hockey. Dr. Johnson attempted conservative treatment through rehab to get me through the season. At the end of the season, I went for my first arthroscopic knee surgery for a torn meniscus at the surgery center in Tinton Falls. My recovery with physical therapy was very quick and I was able to play basketball half way through the season. I finished high school and went on to play basketball at Brookdale Community College.Although, my visits with Professional Orthopaedic Associates did not end in high school. Dr. Johnson treated several more visits throughout college for various injuries. One injury included a tear to my meniscus of my other knee. So, the process repeated it self to get me through the season with rehab, then correct the tear with surgery after the season. My second arthroscopic knee surgery with Dr. Johnson was in the Toms River Surgery Center. Recovery again was very smooth, and I am happy to say I do not currently have any more knee troubles. Dr. Johnson, the staff at Professional Orthopaedic Associates, and the surgery centers are very professional, and have their patient’s care and safety first in mind. I would definitely recommend Dr. Johnson and Professional Orthopaedic Associates.”
