Patient Reviews: Dr. Gregg Foos

Gregg R. Foos, MD, FAAOS

The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Foos.
  • “Dear Dr. Foos, Here I am with two knees, and I want to thank you for giving me back my life. When I first came to see you, I was in so much pain. Today I feel like a new person and I am finally pain-free. Through it all, you always explained things so that I knew what would happen as well as how and why. You patiently and thoughtfully answered all my questions, even those some might consider silly (zumba and zip lines). You have an incredible staff. They have always been so nice to me. Your assistant, Jennifer, is amazing. She has traveled this journey with me, answering every phone call, every question, every fear I had, always so professional and compassionate. Then there's Laurie, the first person I would see at the reception desk; Colleen, Anthony, and John, who would bring me back to one of the exam rooms or take me for x-rays; Clarinda, who I would see on my way out and make my next appointment; Justine, who gave me those reminder calls. And then, physical therapy -- Tracy is the first person I spoke with at POA PT, and she was so kind and caring; Sheela is an incredible physical therapist and did wonders. And then there is you, Dr. Foos. Thanks to your great surgical skills and knowledge and compassion, you have brought me through this journey. I never thought I would be able to walk and run without pain again, but here I am. THANK YOU!”

  • “As an avid racquetball player, I have had many injuries over the years. I just can't say enough about Dr. Foos. Dr. Foos has successfully operated on me four times for bones spurs in my elbow and shoulder and also a knee arthroscopy. The staff was phenomenal and the surgery-center was just fantastic. They combined to make each experience very easy. I look forward to many more years on the racquetball court!”

  • “I used to be active athlete who enjoyed all sports! Basketball, tennis, skiing, snow boarding, & martial arts. I had a full torn acl injury ten years ago and had seen quite few doctors over the years in New York and New Jersey. I never felt comfortable so never committed to the surgery. Most practices felt cold and uncaring (akin to a production line). At the recommendation of a friend I went to see Dr. Foos and from the minute I entered the office my experience was second to none. Dr. Foos provided unrushed quality time educating me on my injury and objective choice of options (the previous surgeons didn't really give any). As I expected the surgery went off without a hitch and his follow up was just as good as the first visit. The same quality time was made post-op which was instrumental in my full recovery. Just want to say thanks to Dr. Foos and the Professional Ortho staff for their commitment to quality care and personal service!!”

  • “I am so very grateful for my two new knees!! Dr. Foos has given me back my life! It had been years since I was able to exercise the way I wanted to. Now I can walk, bike, do Zumba, and enjoy moving to the music the way I used to. Swimming is still great, but I no longer have to rely on the pool for my only form of exercise. My volunteer work at the Bronx Zoo is no longer painful. There's such a lot of ground to cover, but now I'm happy to be there. This doesn't even cover playing with my grandchildren! It's amazing how much we take for granted, and how we can get used to losing it. It's easy to forget what you loved to do, but it's wonderful to rediscover them again. The care I received was wonderful. Physical therapy took several months, but following "orders" and hard work were definitely worth it. I am thankful every day.”

  • “Dr. Foos has been an absolute caring physician since my knee surgery. He takes his time with explaining the procedure, post-op, and office visits. I am very pleased with his services, and have referred several of my friends to him. They were completely satisfied as I was.”

  • “I suffered with knee pain for quite a long time before being referred to Dr. Foos. He spoke to me, had me have x-rays and a MRI. He found that I had a torn meniscus in my left knee. I had never had surgery before and was nervous to fix my knee. Dr. Foos performed an arthroscopic procedure. Since he helped me, I have not had any pain in my knee at all. He advised me that my right knee also needed the same treatment. The x-rays had shown a slight slanting of both my kneecaps. Two years after my first procedure, he did the same procedure to my right knee. I am grateful for Dr. Foos and all the staff in that office. They were nothing but kind, happy, and reassuring. It was such a great experience that I recommend this practice constantly. I only wish other doctor visits for other reasons were as pleasant. After rehab (with Sheila) within the same practice, I have full range of motion in both my knees. I am one happy and content patient. I work two jobs and I am a single mom, and I thank God for you all for making me better so I can work.  Thank you.”

  • “Wonderful , never waited more then 10 minutes in lobby. Dr. Foos knew within 2 minutes what the problem was and booked a MRI that day. I had a MRI 3 days later, and a confirmed meniscus tear. We set up surgery, which he did on a day he doesn't do surgery to accommodative me. Would and have recommended Professional Orthopaedic Associates to others.”

  • “From the first visit to the last, Dr. Foos and his staff was first class all the way. A month after my knee surgery, I was able to ski like I was 17 again. I had my other knee worked on by another practice, and the experience was far superior with Dr. Foos. Thanks doc!”

  • “I was at my most frustrated point, no one was able to come to a conclusion as to what was "wrong with me," I’ve had over 22 vascular operations, my joints were killing me, and had small tumors in my nerves, along with many other symptoms. Finally my knees were so bad, I could barely make it through a grocery trip, without them buckling and landing on the floor. I was barely in my 30’s. I had 33 mall children, had been searching for answers for over 10 years, most doctors thought I had Lupus, but all tests were always negative. I use to dance, do jazz and ballet, loved the beach, and bike riding all were things of my past. If I dared to take three steps in sand, my knees would literally fold underneath me. I was scared; I had hemorrhaged, come close to dying and had no hope. So yes, this office is an orthopaedic office, but they do more than that, they "listen" and truly care. Dr. Foos came recommended by 3 different doctors. He tried conservative measures first to strengthen my knees, however, after MRIs and physical therapy, surgery was the next step. I will never forget his words: “Your knee looks like you have played professional football for over 40 years. I did much more extensive work than I planned, which went well and will give you some time. However, you must get it replaced, very soon. I cannot believe, I am telling someone your age this.” In my mid late 30’s, I had both knees replaced, and my left elbow (partially replaced) and he found me a doctor who KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME!!! I began treatments, with immune suppressants and both doctors communicate on my case regularly. I walk on the beach, without pain AT ALL. I am now 52, have hardly had much better quality of life, and attended almost all of my son’s soccer games, daughters cheerleading events, and my older son's concerts. This is ALL due to Dr Foo's and Professional Orthopaedic Associates. They care, they listen, and they are amazing at what they do.”

  • “Dr. Foos did surgery on both of my knees, one in 1998 and the other in 1999. For the following 15 years, I have remained one of the top Masters 5k road racers in the state.”

  • “I had knee pain for many years, but chose to ignore it due to the fact I was very overweight. I assumed any doctor would just look at me and say, "lose weight and you will feel better." Well, I lost over 120 lbs. and still had pain. So I finally sought treatment. I knew a few people Dr. Foos helped and he was highly recommended. After meeting with him, it was decided I needed surgery to repair a torn meniscus and a hole in my cartilage. I was pain free for the first time for as long as I can remember. Fast-forward 2 years, I re-tore the same knee and went back to see Dr. Foos. This time we elected to try a shot of synvisc. It was successful, and I was able to return to my very active lifestyle. I highly recommend Dr. Foos!”
