Two New Advanced Specialists, Spine Doctor & Shoulder/Elbow Doctor, Join Professional Orthopaedic Associates
Benjamin M. Giliberti, M.D., and Allen D. Nicholson, M.D., fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons, joined Professional Orthopaedic Associates on Aug. 23. Both providers are available to see patients at the practice’s offices in Tinton Falls, located at 776 Shrewsbury Ave., Suite 105; Toms River, located at 1430 Hooper Ave., Suite 101; and Freehold, located at 303 W. As a fellowship-trained spine surgeon, Dr. Giliberti specializes in treating injuries and conditions of the back, neck and spine. His surgical expertise includes cervical artificial disk replacement and removal; cervical, thoracic and lumbar decompressions and fusions; and spine repair and reconstruction. Specialty-trained orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgeon Dr. Nicholson also provides an array of treatment options, including shoulder, elbow and knee arthroscopy as well as total, reverse total and stemless shoulder replacement. Additionally, Dr. Nicholson offers rotator cuff repair and sports medicine care.

After receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Giliberti completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. He then underwent an additional year of training through a spine surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Dr. Nicholson earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He then completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital followed by a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
